Studies in War-time Organisation: (3) The Mobile Propaganda Unit, East Africa Command
This article is based on an extended description of a six-month tour in Northern Rhodesia and Nyasaland by the Mobile Propaganda Unit of East Africa Command, of which the writer is the officer in charge. Captain Dickson prefaced his original account with two extracts from the Colonial Office Report on Mass Education: "It will be vitally important that such plans should be grafted on to war-time experience, and not expect to start de novo" (para. 187); and (from para. 192): "There is always much to be learnt from these somewhat sporadic movements, but it is not easy to get full details of the plans and their execution." It is hoped that this article may in some way answer these two comments.
